You may not realise it but we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that as soon as we get the go ahead that we are in the ideal position to open up as safely as we can.
We have been following all the Scottish Government guidelines as well as the guidelines from Scottish/British Gymnastics. To date we have carried out risk assessments, looked at responsibilities for all gymnasts, parents and coaches as well as producing Isolation Policies in case someone should unfortunately become unwell during a session in the gym. These documents can be found at http://www.ekgc.org/reopening
We encourage every member to read these documents so that you know what needs to be done when coming back to the gym. These documents are there to help ensure the health, safety and well being of all gymnasts, coaches, officials and volunteers.
We are currently developing a revised timetable that will ensure that we build in time to allow for cleaning between sessions, again to ensure everyone’s health. This is based on the situation as we currently know it, and is obviously subject to change as things develop. Once the guidance from both government and Scottish Gymnastics has been finalised and we are sure of the timetable, we will circulate this to everyone. The gym has also been reorganised so that we can socially distance gymnasts both when they are training and getting changed before and after sessions. There will be different accesses for each of the sections, the documents will show you what applies to you.
At present we don’t have a date for restarting the classes, but we will shortly be asking you to complete a short survey on your thoughts about returning to the gym. We will circulate this once you have had some time to read the reopening documents.
This is just a short update for the moment, we will keep everyone fully informed as we go but please do read the documents at http://www.ekgc.org/reopening and if you have any questions or queries please get in touch with us.
Stay safe, fit and healthy and hopefully we will all be back doing what we love best – GYMNASTICS!
