Changes from 14th August 2021
Social Distancing:
The latest Scottish Gymnastics guidance is that there is no requirement to physically distance from each other. However, the club would be grateful if you would apply a “give people space” attitude when in or around the gym. We won’t be enforcing a strict distance policy, but please be mindful that not everyone will be comfortable about being in close proximity of others just yet. Please don’t be offended if others still want to keep a safe space from other parents, coaches or officials.
Face Covering:
All gymnasts aged 12 years and over will still need to wear a face covering when not actually participating in a class. This includes when they are coming into or exiting the gym, and when they are moving around in the gym if for instance going to the toilet. All parents that are coming into the gym should wear a face covering please. This will not apply when you are outside the gym, but we would ask that you wear a face covering as soon as you enter the doorway.
The above will obviously not apply should anyone be exempt due to medical or other conditions.
Coaches will have to wear a face covering at all times in the gym, even during sessions.
Sign-In/Sign-Out
We will still be signing in/out the gymnasts using the current procedures of the tick in/out sheets, reducing the need for parents to sign the gymnasts in and out. Gymnasts will still be required to have their hands sanitised on entry and exit. We will however be taking away the need to do the temperature checks on entry.
Cleaning Regimes.
We will not be changing any of our cleaning and sanitising regimes. We will still be sanitising chairs and equipment after each session to ensure that everything is as safe as it can be for each new class coming into the gym. We will still be employing the contract cleaners on a daily basis to ensure that all public areas/toilets/corridors and high touch points are clean for the start of each day and easier to keep clean throughout the day.
Reception Area/Changing Areas:
We will still be keeping the reception area as a restricted access area other than for some essential classes such as the pre-school classes. Gymnasts will still be required to attend the club changed and ready to participate in the classes. We will not be reintroducing the changing rooms at the moment and will continue to use the seats/doocots in the gym for gymnasts to store coats, shoes etc as we do at the moment.
Water Fountain
We may shortly be reinstalling the water fountain in the gym. We will not however be supplying gymnasts with cups. The water fountain will only be for refilling water bottles, so please ensure that your gymnast comes to class with their water bottle.
Coaching with Contact
Some competition sections had already reintroduced coach contact with permission from parents. We now aim to reintroduce coach contact to all sections and classes. If you do not wish coach contact, which can be a vital part of coaching, you can opt of this. If you do wish to opt out, please email admin@ekgc.org to let us know and we will note this on your child’s record. This will let the coaches know your wishes. Please note that we will assume permission until otherwise notified.
We think that the above changes will continue to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the gym whilst taking into account the changes to guidance from both the government and our own governing body, Scottish Gymnastics. None of this will hopefully take away the enjoyment that every gymnasts should have while taking part in our great sport at our club, nor compromise their health and safety.
Many thanks in advance for your continued support and co-operation.
