The club intends to reintroduce Coach Contact with gymnasts as part of the Scottish Gymnastics Coach Contact Framework as we move towards “normal” training. Everyone at the club aims to ensure that EKGC provides as safe a training environment as is possible with the agreement and co-operation of everyone involved. As part of this move towards training sessions with coach contact, an opt-in document must be completed and returned to the club by every gymnast (or their parent/carer) and coach. Without a completed opt-in form no gymnast or coach can take part in a training session with coach contact.
We have put a copy of the opt-in on the club website as we cannot email documents via Class4kids, apologies. The link to the opt-in document is https://irp.cdn-website.com/0d6c4cca/files/uploaded/Scottish%20Gymnastics%20-%20Opt%20In%20agreement.docx
This should be completed and returned to the gym no later than the 4th of June please.
The website has full details of the Coach Contact guidelines and has the risk assessments associated with it. http://www.ekgc.org/reopening
There is also a self-assessment that needs to be completed prior to EVERY session. Gymnast and coaches should carry out the self-screening survey at home prior to every gymnastics session. The results of this will determine if the gymnast/coach could/should attend their session. There is no requirement for this survey and its results to be brought to the gym. The link to the screening document is: https://irp.cdn-website.com/0d6c4cca/files/uploaded/Gymnast%20self%20screening%20survey.docx
The club is following the Coach Contact Timetable as laid out by Scottish Gymnastics as below:
Phase 1 – No coach contact (3 weeks) until 17th May
Phase 2 – Rescue spotting is permitted from 17th May to prevent serious injury.
Phase 3 - From the 7th of June, coaches may then implement a phased return to coach contact and manual support activities. Coach contact for multiple groups for a maximum of 15 minutes per group per day. Rescue spotting also permitted to prevent injury.
Phase 4 - from 28th June Coach Contact can resume for all pre-planned activity. It is the responsibility of the club and coach to review the programme, understand the increased risk, and ensure manual support activities are kept to a minimum.
Coaches will only provide manual support if through assessment and professional judgements it is deemed to be required.
Guidelines we will follow:
Prior to activity
• All gymnasts and coaches must complete a self-screening survey to determine whether they can attend the training session. https://irp.cdn-website.com/0d6c4cca/files/uploaded/Gymnast%20self%20screening%20survey.docx
• All gymnasts and coaches are made aware of the increase in transmission risk associated with the return of manual supporting activities.
• All gymnasts (parent/carer) and coaches must complete an opt-in agreement to return to manual support activities.
• Clubs and coaches must ensure all gymnasts (and parents/ carer) are aware what manual support activities they are opting into and that they can withdraw at any time.
• The club will inform the head coaches of any gymnast or coach who has not agreed to returning to manual support. The club must be sensitive to those individuals who may not return to manual support and ensure they can still participate fully in the session.
• It is the club’s responsibility to inform relevant coaches and parents of any changes to the opt in agreement.
• All coaches must actively observe Covid-19 secure measures within the Step Forward Framework for a minimum of three weeks prior to commencing any activities involving manual support.
• After 6 weeks OR once the local authority area the club is in has now entered level 1 (whichever is first), coaches may then implement a phased return to coach contact and manual support activities:
